What is the difference between the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and OTCBB?
NYSE
The New York Stock Exchange is a physical exchange that conducts buying and selling transactions through specialists and brokers. Stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange usually have a large market value and many blue chip stocks.
The American Stock Exchange
The American Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange are both physical exchanges that conduct buying and selling transactions through specialists and brokers. However, the market value of stocks listed on the US Stock Exchange is relatively small, similar to the domestic ChiNext board.
NASDAQ

NASDAQ is a non physical exchange that trades through an integrated system, with more technology and growth stocks.

OTCBB

OTCBB is an over-the-counter stock market in the United States, where companies are not called listed, but rather listed. Listing also requires information disclosure to the SEC, but due to the relatively poor quality of these companies, trading is not active.
